To test EURO banknotes. Their securities thread caries the code of the nominal value in a way, which excludes any possibility for counterfeiting. This information can only be read, it cannot be deleted or dubbed; it does not change with time. The well read nominal of an EURO banknote guarantees that it is genuine. Unlike UV testers, BET is not harmful to the eyes, it does not need much space, and its work is not affected by any possible chemical treatment of the banknote surface (accidental washing or deliberate UV passivation). It is easy to work with BET tester and it does not require utmost attention from the operator. It is fed with 2 x 1.5 V batteries type AA. The automatic switch off and the low consumption ensures them not less than 60 hours life (i.e. over 600 wads of banknotes can be checked). The 16-digit display shows the nominal of the tested euro banknote and announcements for the operator. The operator can easily select the language among the 6 available and choose whether the right reading to be accompanied by a sound signal or not.

  HOW TO USE THE TESTER  

• Switch on the tester on by lightly pressing the button. It is ready to work after the sound signal when the announcement "READY" appears on the display. Put the tester on the upper end of the checked banknote (as shown on fig. 1). Take care the lower end reper of the tester (under the display) to be at relatively equal distance from the ends of the banknote.
• Move the tester through the whole width of the banknote, as shown on fig. 2. The required light pressure is ensured form its own weight. Move with a uniform speed, not too slowly. Adjust your movements to the best reading results.
• When the reading is right, the display shows the nominal of the tested banknote, for example, "200 EURO". Such banknote is genuine. This is accompanied by two short beeps if the nominal of the last banknote is the same as that of the previous one. If the nominal is different, three beeps are heard. The next banknote can be checked immediately, without waiting for the announcement "READY" to come back on the display ( 2 sec. after the last check)
• If the reading was not good (the display is not changing, "READY" only blinks or alternates with "INVALID"), repeat items 2. and 3, trying to move the tester a little faster and along the entire width with a bigger pressure. You can try again, turning the banknote on the other side and with a little slant. A banknote that cannot be read after several efforts from both sides (especially if "READY" remains without blinking during the movement) is counterfeited.
• The surface under the banknote (the pad) has to be smooth, non-metal. If the announcement "READY" blinks when the tester moves on the pad without a banknote, use several clean sheets of paper for a pad. Very suitable pads are those for the PC mouse. Do not place banknotes on Xerox copies or laser printed sheets!
• Do not work near (less than a span) video monitors, electric motors or any other kind of magnetic interference, especially if you read NOISE on the display.
• Switch off when there are no more banknotes (press lightly the button if the tester is switched on). If you forget to do it BET will turn off automatically in 15 seconds. A moment before that it will inform you about the charge of the batteries - NORMAL BAT/LOW BAT. When you see LOW BAT for the first time, there are no more than 20% of the battery lives left. You can reach the batteries by opening the lid on the left side.

  Selection of language for the display.   The standard language is the English - announcement "READY" when the tester is switched on. The six available languages and the respective initial announcements are: 1. English /READY/; 2. Italian /PRONTO/; 3. Spanish /LISTO/; 4. French /PRET/; 5. German /BEREIT/; 6. Portuguese /PRONTO/. For example, to select Spanish, switch on BET by pressing the button for a while. In about 6 seconds, the announcement ready will be replaced by PRONTO. Without releasing the button, wait until LISTO comes out. If you releasethe button now , the Spanish will be the working language, until you decide to select another one. If you release the button not in the above cycle (1-6 - announcements for Ready), but when you see No 7/BUZZER ON/, or, No 8 /BUZZER OFF/ you will select whether the reading to be accompanied by a sound signal or not.
